The Vision

Front of the George/Juanita and Will Brooks home

It all began with an idea - a museum dedicated to Juanita Brooks in her historic home on Main St in St George. After our mom died and during the clean out of her house we had what seemed like a wild idea to save the old George/Juanita and Will house next door.  The idea grew to combine her house with the land from our parent's house, and make a Juanita Brooks museum and park. We called the Mayor, city council, city attorney, etc, and they met us on site, and all loved the idea. They thought it was lofty, but they loved it.

After they left, we looked across the street - seeing the vacant lot and the old Erastus Snow house, and the project began to change. The plans grew to join that land and house, and make an entire historic district - two pioneer homes, a brand new Southern Utah Pioneer Museum where our parent’s house stands, with three acres of parks, water features, etc.

So, we started talking about that, and found a great partner in Greg Prince, which led to communication with Steve Snow, Richard Turley, President Holland, the Presiding Bishopric, and ultimately to the First Presidency.

The first two properties have closed and the 3rd property is moving along. It will be a massive multi-year, multi-million dollar project, and when it’s done, it will be maintained by the city forever more. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints agreed to get the ball rolling by buying all the property, and with their blessing, the city will find funding for the rest. As a team of city, family, and community, we will create a museum dedicated to Juanita Brooks, and a new Brooks/Snow/Cox heritage park. Welcome to Hope Hill!
