The Progression
Mountain Meadows View
Our greatest gift and the next step toward our dream coming true came in May when The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated the money needed buy all of the properties we wanted to not only create the museum, but to secure the surrounding properties to build a beautiful historic park on Mount Hope. The project called Hope Hill was becoming a reality.
In June we were given official nonprofit status and were incorporated as a nonprofit in the State of Utah.
In September the John Whitmer History Association Convention was held in the western US for the first time. We were blessed they chose St George. Sharla and family were able to participate with Barbara Jones Brown and Richard Turley on a tour of Mountain Meadows. They were able to make many new friends and become acquainted with descendants of the Fancher family from Arkansas.

During the JWHA Convention we were also privileged to host a walking tour for the Convention attendees at the future museum site, the George/Will and Juanita home, along with the Karl Brooks Home, the Wilford Cox Erastus Snow home, Cox pond, and the Orvel Hafen home.

Sharla Brooks Moody and Teresa Reber Bell both descendants of Juanita were privileged to present a Welcome to St George Presentation as well as a presentation on Juanita Brooks at the JWHA Convention.
In late September and October Sharla and Teresa were also able to do presentations to the Washington County Historical Society and the Legacy Lecture Series. It has been so wonderful to connect with others who have a common interest in preserving the legacy of Juanita Brooks and the history of all of Southern Utah, Northern Arizona and Northern Nevada.

The JBHPS also launched a new website in September thanks to the brilliant work of Jacob and Peter Brooks at Brooks Advertising and we began to receive our first donations.
