Juanita Brooks Museum

The George Brooks home will become the Juanita Brooks Museum and will be dedicated to Juanita and the George Brooks Family. It will honor her legacy of learning, house a library of her books, papers, and other artifacts, and offer tours and stories from her life. It will also highlight the contributions of the George Brooks and EL Parry families, Will and Juanita and their compound-complex family, as well as other contributors and pioneers in the surrounding areas. As Juanita Gathered, Preserved, and Shared” history we will continue her legacy as we do the same.

Hope Hill
Historic District

The Hope Hill Historic District sits directly across the street from the Wilford Cox home, originally built by LDS Apostle Erastus Snow. This new historic district is a phased project, which will include a museum dedicated to Juanita and the George Brooks Family, a new building that will house a lecture hall, films on Southern Utah, and a repository for stories and history of southern Utah. The surrounding property will include beautiful gardens and walking paths for community events and receptions. Join us in this project to preserve and share the history and contribution of Juanita Brooks and all the settlers of Southern Utah."

History of the home

Built by her father-in-law, George Brooks, the Will and Juanita Brooks family lived in the house where Juanita wrote much of her work. The house underwent several changes over the years, including the addition of two second story bedrooms in 1949, a new kitchen and living room in 1954, and the expansion of the root cellar into a full basement.
